We are having trouble with a new LMS that uses Moodle. We have the publish settings to allow a user to restart the presentation from last page viewed, but only record a score upon completion of the quiz. If you close the course without attempting the quiz, you initially see the correct status display from the LMS (In Progress - no score). However, the next time you log in, your status changes to Not passed - 0%. Our vendor claims this is an iSpring issue (our Articulate courses don't have this problem). Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your question.

The issue is that when we click "Close" button for a SCORM package, a course always sends "commit" command to an LMS, which means that user score is also recorded in the LMS system. E.g. SCORM 1.2 allows to send only two statues to an LMS: either passed or failed.

So I am afraid, iSpring-generated SCORM courses itself don’t allow to send such statues to an LMS, so the result is recorded every time a course is closed.

Wow, I did not think that was the case, since is there an option - "Report Progress and Completion' that allows you to rate the number of slides viewed? Also, the courses work differently in our other portals, we have the iSpring courses in LMSs that are run on either Sharepoint Learning Kit or Kenexa. Those same courses (in fact, the exact same SCORM package) correctly show a status on ‘In Progress’ when the course is opened and viewed, but no quiz is attempted. In our publishing options- we chose not to rate the number of slides viewed in the ‘Report Progress and Completion”- thinking that the commit was when the quiz score is submitted. Is there a difference in the way that iSpring is handled by different LMSs? Is there a workaround that you know of?

Yes, indeed, different LMS systems may handle same SCORM packages differently. This behavior utterly depends on the LMS technical peculiarities. It is not possible to influence it via making some changes in a SCORM package since SCORM has firm standards for generating courses.
