Hello!
we want our training to close with the 'finish' button when a participant has succeeded in a training. Therefor in the 'presentation explorer' we turned on the 'branching' option for the slide and selected 'Close window' for the 'on pass'.

a 'finish' button now appears on the 'result'-page of the quiz. however this button does nothing.
We are using the latest version of IE11

How can we get this button to actually close the window?

Thank you for the post!
In most cases the window couldn't be closed by means of Flash. The matter is that the browser will not allow Flash object to close its window, that is why the close button doesn't work.
It also depends on the system where you upload the quiz. There are some LMS's that allow to close the Window, and other LMS systems don't allow to do it.
There are several workarounds in this case:
1. Each LMS usually puts a panel on the top of your course with global navigation buttons so this close button can be used.
2. Utilize Windows close button.
3. Finish button can be used to go to a URL specified in Quizmaker-->Properties-->Result
4. The workaround for this situation will be to use the option Go to URL in Quizmaker-->Properties-->Result.

Hello Julia. thanks for your response.
workaround number 3 seems to provide a good alternative.

hold that last thought. That last workaround does not seem to work.
We have tried to link the end of the presentation to several webpages in several different browsers but the button stays nonresponsive.

we publish to web and tried the 'open in new window' option both checked and unchecked

Thank you for the post!
I regret to say that the Finish button can open a web page only when it's a standalone quiz.
The workaround for this situation will be to create the simplest JS call in Quizmaker-->Properties-->Result-->Go to URL.
The link will be: javascript:close();
Works: Chrome, Safari
Doesn't work: Firefox, Opera, IE
The following script can work in: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera:
javascript:(function(){if(window.opener)window.opener.close();window.close();})()
Doesn't work: IE

Also you can utilize the function of redirection to another website in the Resources menu → Settings → Redirect.
In this case, it's possible to add one more slide after the quiz that will redirect users to another website that can be opened in the same window with the course or in a new browsers' window.

since a huge part of our userbase uses IE the first 2 are not an option.
switching the window to another weblocation would be just fine though.

however, I've tried the settings under 'Resources menu → Settings → Redirect' in both IE and Chrome, with the 'Open in new window' checkbox both checked and unchecked but and the end of the time nothing happens and the 'next' button remains unaivalable.
I've published for Web (combined output) a presentation which exists of 2 slides (1 quiz and 1 slide).

just for the heck of it I've tried both the JavaScrips in Quizmaker-->Properties-->Result-->Go to URL in Chrome.
neither of them worked

I've also tried all these options in a seperated quiz which was not bound to a powerpoint presentation and tried them in Chrome.
nothing worked, the finish button is still non-responsive.

It works in the preview, but that is rather useless if it doens't work in the browser.

Hello Martijn!
If the module with the quiz was published to Combined mode, then it requires a click on the last slide so that another web page can be opened.
You can do the following:
1. Insert one more slide after the quiz
2. In Presentation Explorer use the branching to the following slide for both Failing and Passing result.
3. Publish the course to HTML5 format and set the duration of the last slide to 0 sec.
In this case the Web page specified in the Resources menu → Settings → Redirect will be opened automatically as in the example here:

Also here is a sample quiz where the option Go to URL was used:

This does work.
I'm not yet sure whether we'll be able to use HTML5 for our LMS.
there is no way of letting a flash or combined export redirect to another webpage?

I am glad to hear that this solution works for you!
The users can be redirected to another website when the presentation was converted to Flash or Combined format.
A new webpage will be opened if a users clicks on the last slide.
