Are there any advantages in requesting FlashSpring to generate SWF files in later Flash versions (eg 9.0) rather than the default (7.0)?

Thank you for your question.
FlashSpring generates Flash that require Flash player 7 or higher. However the final version of Flash player required to play the generated Flash presentation depends on the following factors.

1) Skin used. Some skins (e.g. Classic, Lite, or Crystal) require Flash player 8. So even if you select Flash 7 version, Flash 8 movie will be generated. If you select Flash 9 version, Flash 9 version will be generated since 9 > 8 :)

2) Embedded Flash movies version. If you presentation contains an embedded Flash 8 movie, the minimum Flash player version to play the generated Flash presentation correctly is Flash player 8. So even if you select Flash version 7, the required Flash player version of the presentation will be 8

There is also a reason for choosing Flash player version. It is the rendering quality.
Different versions of Adobe (Macromedia) Flash players provide different rendering quality. For example, Flash player 8 or higher applies some anti-aliasing techniques to raster images to make them smoother when they are scaled or rotated.
Another example is a maximum number of overlapped objects drawn in the same area. Flash player 7 can draw less objects in the same area of the slide than Flash player 8 or 9 can. So, Flash player 8 (9) compatible Flash presentations can be more complex.

In future versions of FlashSpring we are going to implement Flash-player specific optimizations which will allow creation of more compact or better-looking presentations.

Hope, this information was helpful for you.
